Can anyone recommend a good person/company to install a wood floor in London?

We're looking to lay pre-engineered wood throughout the house, which is a Victorian house in North london, so will be on old floorboards (no we don't want to sand them down!). We'd love to find someone competent to do this for us
Incidentally we are not quite sure what to do about the stairs, so any thoughts welcome: can you have carpet on the stairs and wood at the top and bottom without it looking stupid?
May I suggest you look for a source of recycled wood? It will take some imagination, but that way some of your wood will be the right age for the house. I don't know what pre-engineered wood is, but if you can recycle, I think that will be the best.
Are the stairs really tatty? Could you paint them? If you do use a carpet, something like sisal of jute might work better than fabric.
Good luck finding someone competent. Perhaps you could enquire for graduates at your local college.

a great shame to ruin a Victorian house.I suggest you save money by seeking advice from a qualified interior designer;it will cost less in the long term as one day you may wish to move on and who will want a botched interior?
