With the older Pergo type floors, you would glue the edges, but the newer laminates just snap in place...easy peasy.
If you have to cut them, make sure you cut from the backside and get a diamond saw blade as laminates will eat a regular saw blade up quickly.
References :
Laminate flooring is a floating floor system, no nails or glue. You only nail or glue with wood flooring
References :
laminate flooring is a tongue and groove floor. meaning that you hook them together in place on the floor. after finishing the floor you put the trim around the walls holding it in place.
References :
I believe all laminate flooring is designed to be installed as a floating floor. This is due to the relative expansion and contraction of the laminate relative to the sub-flooring

Laminate is either glued together or uses a snap together design. I have installed the snap together type and it is easy to install. Most glue types are more difficult and messy. You need to hold the pieces together until the glue sets and you also have to wipe up any excess squeeze out.
