I have a question and need a best guess scenario. I have not officially measured my home. I did a rough esitmate by walking along the outside of it and around it. My high end estimate is 2500 square feet of total house. It is probably between 2000 square feet and 2300 hundred square feet but for now lest go with 2500 square feet. I want to have installed laminate flooring in my home. It does not have to be the very expensive laminate. My brother is a contractor and tells me that a mid range priced laminate is just fine and even low range laminate has a long life span. My brother is busy and does not know if he has the time to install the laminate though he told me to go through him to get the laminate flooring because he gest the contractors price. My question is what is anyones best estimate of total price for buying the laminate flooring and having it installed on a 2500 square foot home?

If I was to do the job, I'd likely charge anywhere from $3.75 to $10 a sq. ft. PLUS materials.

Costs to remove are added usually, certainly, as we have to dispose of anything we remove.

If you can, and the old flooring can take it, leave it in. That largely depends on removing molding, cutting door bottoms, cabinets etc.

Ballpark (varies depending on locale):
Remove old hardwood: $1000
Install new hardwood: $2500
Install laminate: $1000

I doubt anyone would install hardwood on top of hardwood because the added thickness would cause problems.
References :
Experience
